The multifunctional

In the true sense, the wood of the conifers is designated with coniferous wood. Occasionally, the group of softwoods is also referred to as resin wood because it is significantly more resinous compared to the deciduous woods.

Softwood is overall more homogeneous than the wood of the deciduous trees. It is among the other things that is more resistant to fungal infections and more resistant to fungal infestation and corrosion-resistant against chemicals. Due to the low shrinkage, it is also more shape- and dimensionally stable than many hardwoods. In combination with the good machinability, these properties allow for a versatile use, especially as construction and sawn timber.
